About Us
Laura Cooksey's Story
I began having acne as a teenager. I sought a cure from different dermatologists on several occasions, was put on antibiotics and other medications, tried many topical medications and never got relief from any of these treatments. Finally, when I was 35 years old, I serendipitously met an esthetician who specialized in treating acne and she said, “Honey, come to me and I’ll have you clear in two months.” With trepidation and skepticism I acquiesced because otherwise I’d be giving up: and I was tired of the social isolation and sense of embarrassment my acne was causing me. Every two weeks I would go to her office for treatment and I used the four products that she recommended, religiously. Thank God, it worked. This esthetician knew her trade and had me clear in two months.
I’d been a massage therapist at that time but decided right then and there that I was going to become an esthetician and learn how to clear others who were afflicted with acne. After all, I knew first hand how adversely it affected my life and I felt compelled to spare others years of despair. Within two years, I had redirected my career by getting licensed as an esthetician in 1990 by the State of California and to this day, I continue to study, research and treat retention hyperkeratosis, the disease commonly referred to as acne.
My modality is based on the research, teachings and practice of Dr. James Fulton Jr., M.D., Ph.D., certainly one of the most renowned acne experts in the world. For years, I read his books and watched his instructional videos. Eventually, I was fortunate enough to meet and study with him. My clients and I have benefited immensely from his knowledge, dedication and hard work. No one has made a larger contribution to end the suffering of those afflicted with acne.
